Opened by Amanda in November 2025, The Craft Box Porthcawl was created with a simple but inspiring idea: Arts and craft fair in a box. Having spent years immersed in the craft fair scene, Amanda wanted to bring the same welcoming, creative atmosphere of those events into a permanent space in her hometown of Porthcawl.

As a maker herself, Amanda draws inspiration from the local coastline. She searches the beaches of South Wales for shards of sea glass, fragments shaped and softened by the movement of the ocean. These pieces are transformed into beautifully handcrafted cards, pictures, jewellery and decorative pieces, each carrying a small story of the sea.

From the beginning, Amanda’s vision for The Craft Box was about more than just selling handmade work. Her mission was to create a space that celebrates creativity while supporting the talented artists and makers within the Porthcawl community.

Shortly after opening, Amanda met local artists Troy and Jo, who shared the same passion for creativity and community. Together, they began building a collaborative space where artists could connect, share ideas and showcase their work.

Today, The Craft Box is home to 10 resident artists, with many more local makers eager to join and contribute to the growing creative community.
